Our Little AVERY

For all those who occasionally follow this blog I give a preemptive apology. Avery has been with us now for three weeks and I am just getting around to updating our blog.

Now for all those who don't know, and would like to, Avery Rytting was born on Monday November 10th at 2pm. She weighed in at 6 lbs 1 oz and was 19 in in length. As you can see she has a full head of beautiful brown hair which was one of our biggest surprises when she arrived. If Christian wouldn't have told me about her hair during the last part of delivary I don't know if I would have believed this was our baby when they put her in my arms. I thought for sure we would have a whole family of blondies but am so grateful for this amazingly beautiful brown hair, olive skinned little girl.

Labor and delivary went smoothly and I thank my lucky stars that I live in a time where women have epiderals! Those who have experienced natural birth may laugh, but after they broke my water I only made it threw half a dozzen "hard labor" contractions before I was begging for an epideral. Then after the epideral was administered I couldn't believe how wonderful labor seemed. I took a nap, chatted with family, snuck some food, and watched as my contractions spiked on the monitor, all without feeling any pain. Then when it was time to push I gave nine hard pushes, the doctor used some suction, and after a massive episiodomy Avery was here! If it wasn't for the tearing I think I could easily do that kind of labor any day of the week... or at least it didn't scare me enough to sware off ever having children again.

However difficult women told me labor would be, I think the weeks following gave me a run for my money. Technically I knew babies only slept in two to three hour incriments but I had no idea what it would actually feel like when I was experiencing it, not to mention the pain of breast feeding. Physically I was exhausted, emotionally I was a nut case, and all while being strung out on all types of pain killers. Fortunatly I have an wonderfully compassionate husband and an amazingly wise mother who made sure every loose end was taken care of. Even though our kitchen is in the middle of being remodeled (I know, bad timing) meals were taken care of and the house was always clean. Christian and I even got to go on a dinner date before my mother left last week and for once my life seemed normal again.

In contrast to all the new challenges of being a mother I have to admit there is nothing more rewarding than seeing my little girls smile and hearing her giggle threw out the night (even if it is only gas). I LOVE being a mom! And although I still have plenty to learn I will forever be grateful for my little Avery and all we will learn together!

Congratulations!!! We've been checking your blog almost every day wondering about your baby girl, name, pictures, date she was born, etc. So, we're thrilled to finally see your beautiful Avery. She really is adorable!!!

Incase you're not sure who we are, (since you've only met us once), we're Christian's friends from EFY and we met up with you at Burlington Coat Factory (if I'm remembering the right place) when you were engaged. We all sat in the rocking chairs and talked a little. Anyway, I'd love to send your our blog invite too since we finally started one, but only have Christian's email. What's yours? My email is: iamnesquik@gmail.com

Okay, now you don't need to approve this extra long comment for posting in the 'comments', but I would love to send you an invite so you can see our blog.

I hope you're feeling well and wish we lived closer to be able to help. Having a new baby is so miraculous and wonderful and you'd never ever trade, some days are still exhausting and help is needed and appreciated.

Congrats Again!

Congratulations!! And look at all of that hair! I didn't know what color my kids' hair would be, but I DID know they'd all come out bald. :) :)

I hope things get better with getting used to a baby's schedule, it truly is like nothing else we had ever experienced. But I promise it gets easier!

Okay, I am so grateful that you put this beautiful little girl up! I have been waiting to see a picture of her for...since she was born! And Emily, if you read this before your husband does, let him know that he is going to get a serious beating when I come into to town over Chritmas, assuming that he doesn't run away (he is faster than me). She is beautiful!

What a beauty! She is so gorgeous, and her hair gives me a little hope for my own little one (although odds are she is still destined to be a cue ball). I love when women post that labor is possible, usually I brace myself for a war story. I am sad you had to tear and do the epesiotomy though. We are over the moon for your new little family!! Congratulations!

Congrats, she is so precious! It's amazing all the changes that happen after a little one comes into the picture, but it's all worth it. Hope you're getting a little more sleep and that breast feeding is going smoothly. You have such a great attitude - Avery is lucky to have such a great mom (oh, and Christian, you're great too)!

Christian and Emily, Congratulations! I stumbled across your blog from Amanda Best's list of friends...I promise I'm not a stalker! Christian and Danny were good friends of mine in High School and it was fun to see your name and then find this exciting post about your family! Really, I'm not a fan of blog stalking, but I wanted to say hello and congratulations...your little princess is absolutely beautiful! Nothing better than children!!!

She is adorable! Congratulations! I agree that the first few weeks of motherhood is MUCH harder than giving birth. I remember when Tyson was almost six weeks old, I was at my parents house and just cried the whole time because I was so tired. But you're right, the joy of being a mother makes it all worth it!
